I’ve been getting a lot of questions on AllExperts.com recently about problem employees and problem bosses and how to manage them.

One of the best books I’ve found on the subject is Shaun Belding’s “Winning With the Employee From Hell” and “Winning With the Boss From Hell”. In fact, his whole “Hell” series is outstanding. He writes simply and clearly about different workplace problem and how to manage each type of difficult employee or boss. From underachieving workers to rude and gossipy-types to micro-managers to back-stabbers, know-it-alls and more, Belding hits the nail on the head each time and gives techniques and strategies for successfully working with almost anyone.

I highly recommend these books!

There must be something in the air, because I’ve heard a lot of interview horror stories (from both sides) recently.

A friend of mine was interviewing a candidate for a job when the young man’s cell phone rang. He said, “Excuse me—I need to take this call” and proceeded to pull out his cell phone and answer it right in the middle of the interview. My friend was so dumbfounded all he could do was stare. Needless to say, the candidate didn’t get the job. My friend said the rest of the interview was outstanding and he was on the verge of hiring this person—until the phone rang.

My friend asked me what I would have done in this situation, and I had to confess that I would probably sit there staring, also. And then not hire the person.

So, let’s hear your interview horror stories—both from interviewers and from interviewees.

And what would you do, if a person you were interviewing answered a cell phone call in the middle of the interview?

Hello, everyone! I took a little hiatus from blogging, but now I’m back and ready to blog.

To start off, I’m recommending a great little book called “The Intellectual Devotional”, by Noah Oppenheim and David Kidder.

In case you haven’t figured this out, I’m a serious reader. I read all the time, and I’m intensely curious about things. My mind never stops, and I want to know everything. So when I learned about “The Intellectual Devotional” I had to take a look.

The idea comes from the daily religious devotional books that many people keep by their bedside and dip into every day. “The Intellectual Devotional” contains 365 short essays on seven subjects — history, literature, visual arts, science, music, philosophy and religion — one for each day of the week. Each essay is designed to stimulate your mind and inspire you to learn more.

Pick a copy up today. One look, and I guarantee you’ll want more to give as gifts. I know what I’m giving at Christmas!
